College Planning Calculator Tool

A new web product design for a tool called the “College Planning Calculator” for the Carson Wealth website and for Carson Partner websites. It is a lead generation tool for financial advisors in which a gated resource creates leads. The Carson content team created the content for the calculator and the active calculator was built by the Carson development team. I designed each screen of the calculator experience using Sketch. 

Special considerations from the brief for this web product design included:

1. Display a response to the option chosen by the user for each question in the calculator. 

2. Indicate progress through the calculator tool for optimal user experience.

3. The user must have the ability to go back and change a response within the tool.

4. Results to the quiz are given before the prompt for the gated resource which would offer the user further insights into the category “College Planning” 

Below is a screen recording of a walkthrough of the live calculator tool which went live in March 2023. As you can see, in the live product the option to move backward in the tool was removed, and results were also gated – as opposed to just additional resources. I believe this decision was made after A|B testing revealed that the product was not generating enough leads with the un-gated results. This accounts for the difference from the initial web product design.
