This student project required that I choose a single image and create two different magazine covers with it. I spent plenty of time perusing images to use for this, until this one gave me a couple of ideas. This photo was sourced from unsplash.com. Photo credit goes to Tyler Nix.
The climbing magazine was an obvious choice from this image. The millenial magazine was an idea that was born from fllowing Facebook group lead by a high school classmate (who is completely brilliant) called “Celebrity Gossip Academic Style” which I recommend.
As I mentioned, I got ideas for this magazine from a group which at the moment was discussing topics that were weighing on my mind. I started by making a list, then created faux article topics. The real challenge was what to call the magazine. I love the masthead for this one.
It should be noted: I am not a hiker. Creating the article titles for this exercise was certainly a challenge, but a fun one. The typography for “the climb” and “Top 10 Hikes” was highly praised in my peer review.
